| Research: Research Symposia
Research Symposia The Association has initiated a campaign to
generate interest among top-tier scientists in lending their expertise and
energy to discover the cause(s), pathophysiology and treatment(s) of CFIDS.
In 2000 and 2001, the Association held three research symposia
to bring together CFIDS researchers with scientists from related disciplines.
The goals of the symposia were to establish current knowledge, identify the top
areas for future exploration and, most importantly, introduce a new group of
scientists to CFIDS research.
The symposia focused on the topics:
It is the Association's intent that the consensus statements
developed at each meeting will inform future research efforts and result in
scientific advances that directly impact the health of persons with CFS.
The symposia series is one component of an on-going,
broad-based program aimed at expanding, improving and accelerating CFS research.
Other elements in this multi-dimensional effort include the Association's
research grants and
public policy programs.
