Advocacy Alert: 11/16/2006

NBC10 in Rochester, NY followed its Nov. 8 report on CFS and the Nov. 3 press conference with a second segment that aired last night. Station anchor and recovered CFS patient Jennifer Johnson begins with her own story and reads from the hundreds of messages she received in response to her first report. She also lists local resources for area patients. You can view the clip at http://www.10nbc.com/index.asp?template=item&story_id=20769

You can thank Jennifer and NBC10 for their excellent coverage with our easy-to-use template -- visit

TOMORROW, Nov. 17, “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste,” a one-hour program broadcast by Spanish language network Telemundo, will feature interviews with CFS expert Nancy Klimas, MD, and CFS patients Marly Silverman and Rosa Berrocal. The program is available on Telemundo channels across the U.S. and internationally. In the U.S., it airs at 5 p.m. (Eastern), 4 p.m. (Central).

This is the second major Spanish-language media piece this week. Marly Silverman was pictured on the front page of El Nuevo Herald on Nov. 14. The article, written by Alejandro Chapparo, features an interview with Marly, founder of
PANDORA, a patient advocacy organization. According to Marly, its headline translates as “The illness that destroys the ability to work.” El Neuvo Herald is the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the country.
