More CFS Coverage

Take Action!

Media presence builds!

New stories about CFS continue appearing in national, international and local press outlets. Here are details on just a few. You can view all the recent coverage at http://www.cfids.org/sparkcfs/media-coverage.asp

This past Sunday (Jan. 21), 79 million readers learned basic information about CFS and what distinguishes it from other medical conditions in an article by Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld in PARADE Magazine. View the article at http://www.parade.com/articles/editions/2007/edition_01-21-2007/Chronic_Fatigue. Although it does not go into detail on treatment or research, it does help validate the illness with the huge audience reached by 340 newspapers that include the magazine with their Sunday editions. Send your comments to Dr. Rosenfeld using PARADE'S web form at http://www.parade.com/opencms/do/readerContactUs We hope that a positive response will encourage PARADE to do more in-depth coverage in the near future.

Announcements about the upcoming Stanford University clinical trial of valgancyclovir in a subset of patients with CFS has prompted media coverage by Reuters wire service and the Palo Alto News, picked up by other papers and news outlets around the globe. View Kristina Peterson's story at http://www.paloaltodailynews.com/article/2007-1-16-all-chronic-fatigue and thank her for the coverage using our form letter (click "Take Action" above, then click the "GO" button). You can read more about the study at http://www.cfids.org/sparkcfs/research-news.asp.

February issues of Woman's Day magazine and Consumer Reports On Health magazine both include information about CFS and provide resources for additional information. Both magazines restrict access to web versions of published articles to subscribers only.

Coverage in south Florida continues to be strong, thanks to the work of PANDORA and the recent hosting of the IACFS conference in Ft. Lauderdale. Tomorrow, WPLG-ABC channel 10 will feature an interview with Dr. Nancy Klimas and Marly Silverman at 6:20 a.m., repeated in the noon news broadcast. Miami Living Magazine also features an article about CFS in its current issue (not available online). A November 24, 2006 article about CFS that appeared first in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has run in at least 33 other newspapers across the country! So far, 143 advocates have used the alert at http://capwiz.com/cfids/issues/alert/?alertid=9185196&type=CU to thank Nancy McVicar and other reporters whose stories were published right after the Nov. 3 press conference.

Please use our quick form letter to thank reporters for this recent coverage. Just click "TAKE ACTION" and then the "GO" button when you reach a page similar to this message. One letter will send "thank you" messages to Kristina Peterson, Marla Schwartz and editors at Woman's Day and Miami Living magazines. We'll update you as more stories make it into the news!

The Association is working hard to sustain media attention and make sure stories accurately reflect current scientific understanding and the devastating impact on patients' lives. Thanks for your efforts to keep affirming stories about CFS in the news!
