Research Matters
Largest Slate of Research Grants To Be Awarded
The Campaign to Accelerate CFSResearch raised record money this year to propel CFS research forward. Meanwhile 33 investigators submitted grant proposals for Association funding. After a robust and thorough review process--including assessment by 40 scientific experts from a variety of fields--we are on the brink of announcing our largest cycle of research grants ever. Watch your inbox this month for a special CFIDSLink announcing the grant recipients and the work they'll be doing. Then look for the special section in the "Science Issue" of the CFIDS Chronicle coming out early in 2009. Click here for more information on the Association's research program.

Report from the Federal CFS Advisory Committee Meeting
The federal CFS Advisory Committee (CFSAC) met in Washington, D.C., last week to hear agency updates, gather testimony from members of the public and make recommendations to the secretary of health. The CFIDS Association was well-represented at the meeting.

The Kaiser Permanente network in northern California broadcast a videoconference on CFS clinical care to more than 700 medical professionals. Led by Kenneth Lee, MD, and Dedra Buchwald, MD--and supported by material from the CFIDS Association--the presentation covered best practices, risk factors, viral triggers and information about CFS research findings.
