Back to School

Growing up with a disabling disease like chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS) is always a challenge. Because most people don't know that children and teenagers can get CFIDS, it often takes years for them to be diagnosed. They face numerous obstacles as they fight for a healthy childhood and a quality education.

The CFIDS Association of America's youth program is working to improve the lives of young persons with CFIDS by providing emotional and educational support, coping tips and medical information to them and their families. We're also helping pediatricians, family practitioners, school nurses and teachers learn how to recognize pediatric CFIDS and how to help kids who have it.

Gaining a quality education is one of the top problems for young people with CFIDS (YPWCs). Below are some resources that you might find helpful as you navigate the educational system! Additional information for YPWCs and those who care about them is available at http://www.cfids.org/youth.asp .
