CFIDS Association’s WebMD Project Puts Spotlight on CFIDS

More than 80% of the 800,000 U.S. adults suffering from CFIDS are unaware of what is causing their puzzling symptoms and declining health and function.

WebMD, the recognized leader among health care websites, receives an astounding 22 million visits, and 24,000 CFS-related keyword searches, from eHealth consumers every month. Thanks to a generous foundation grant, as well as support from an individual donor, the Association launched an educational campaign aimed at harnessing some of WebMD’s “reach” to promote understanding and improve recognition of CFIDS.

Since January 10, four compelling CFIDS informational ads have encouraged over 3,500 WebMD visitors to learn more about CFIDS by participating in a health assessment housed on the Association’s website. Through a series of questions, this clinically derived interactive Do I Have CFIDS? tool will help users determine whether CFIDS may be the cause of their symptoms and prompt an informed conversation with their health care provider. To view the CFIDS Assessment, visit http://www.cfids.org/about-cfids/do-i-have-cfids.asp.

Note: This questionnaire is provided only as a source of information to visitors about the symptom patterns and exclusions that can lead a health care provider to make a diagnosis of CFIDS.
