Second kNOw MORE CFS Seminar Repeats Success

Dr. Nancy Klimas and Dr. Peter Rowe were the featured speakers at the kNOw More CFS Seminar in Charlotte, NC.

Over 180 people came from near and far to the SouthPark Hyatt Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina to hear Dr. Nancy Klimas and Dr. Peter C. Rowe discuss new medical insight into CFS. Participants hoping for a deeper understanding of current research and advances were not disappointed, as Drs. Klimas and Rowe highlighted numerous studies and detailed interesting observations.

Dr. Klimas is a professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine and has been active on the CFS front since 1986, becoming one of the most well-respected researchers on the topic. At the seminar she described a number of recent research findings. Dr. Rowe is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, MD, where he has directed the Chronic Fatigue Clinic since 1996. His talk covered pediatric CFS.

Over 180 people turned out to hear Dr. Klimas and Dr. Rowe describe CFS research advances and case studies.

One woman, having come from out of state to attend the event, said, "My friend drove me 5 hours to get here, and we’ll drive 5 hours back today, but it was well worth it because I’ve never gotten so much detailed information on my disease."

Others echoed similar sentiments as the crowd slowly thinned out, chatting and exchanging stories well after facilitator Dr. Charles Lapp formally concluded the session.

The Association plans to host two kNOw MORE CFS seminars in 2006. Send an email, subject line KNOW MORE to receive information on the dates and locations of these half-day programs.

A DVD of the program is in production and will be available for purchase online – look to the next issue of CFIDSLink for more information.
