CFIDS writer Floyd
Skloot “Discovered”
On March 3, Floyd Skloot
was honored in New York
City by
Barnes & Noble as one of six finalists for the 2003 Discover Award,
celebrating great writing by “new” writers. His book, In the Shadow of
Memory, is a collection of essays about living with a disabled body and
brain. Although he never uses the term “chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction
syndrome,” it is the illness that has crippled his body and fractured his mind.
His first book, written in 1996, is titled The Night-Side: Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome and the Illness Experience. Floyd’s essays about living with
CFIDS have been published in numerous literary
magazines and prestigious medical journals. He’s been featured in dozens of
newspaper stories too. When not enjoying a rare moment in the spotlight, he
lives and writes in a round house in the quiet woods of western
Oregon. Read more about Floyd by
