Agency Activities: Name Change
The CFIDS Association of America's name change
statement
The CFIDS Association of America strongly
supports the process being used to search for a term that can be used in place
of "chronic fatigue syndrome" (CFS). The Name Change Working Group of the
Department of Health and Human Services CFS Coordinating Committee (CFSCC) has
actively sought to
obtain input from all
stakeholders on the issue of renaming the illness, and has developed a
proposal that is responsive to many of their concerns.
As noted in a statement issued March
25,
1998, "The CFIDS Association of America's Board of Directors is solidly
committed to facilitating a change from the name ‘chronic fatigue syndrome' to a
name that more accurately describes the illness and leads to greater acceptance
of the illness."
