For 22 years, the CFIDS Association of America has been at the leading edge of CFS research, policy and education. Inspired by the courage and passion of volunteers and fueled by gifts small and large from supporters committed to a vision of a world without CFS, the Association has responsibly represented the needs of CFS patients and their loved ones.
The Association’s mission, strategy and cores values represent what this organization stands for and how it will work to achieve its ultimate goal. These statements guide all of our plans and programs and are reinforced in all of our communications with supporters, researchers, legislators, public health officials, health care professionals, media professionals and members of the public.
Our Mission:
For CFS to be widely understood, diagnosable, curable and preventable.
Our Strategy:
To stimulate research aimed at the early detection, objective diagnosis and effective treatment of CFS through expanded public, private and commercial investment.
Our Core Values:
To lead with integrity, innovation and purpose.
The Association places a great value on all charitable gifts and careful stewardship of our financial resources is a top priority for us. That’s why the Association has a stellar record of keeping our overhead, management and development expenses well below the national average for nonprofit organizations. In 2008 our supporting services ratio was 18.23%—well under the 25% threshold that the best-run nonprofits stay below. In 2007 and 2008 the Association earned the highest rating—four stars—from Charity Navigator, the Nation's largest charity watchdog. Charity Navigator President & CEO, Ken Beger, states, "Only 18% of charities rated by Charity Navigator have received at least two consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that the CFIDS Association of America consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America. This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates the CFIDS Association of America from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust."
Your donations to the Association are vital in helping us reach our goal. Help us accelerate our efforts in CFS research by making your most generous gift possible. Make your gift today!
