CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

Ad text located below

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) can be as isolating as it is debilitating–especially when those around you don't understand what you're going through. But you're not alone. More than four million Americans suffer from CFS, and the majority don't know they have it. If you've experienced extreme exhaustion for six months or longer, coupled with difficulty sleeping and concentrating, body pain and flu-like symptoms, you could have chronic fatigue syndrome. Log on to www.cdc.gov/cfs for the latest research and guidance on CFS diagnosis and treatment. Your life is waiting for you, and so is the support you need.

Chronic fatigue syndrome can have a devastating impact, causing a constellation of symptoms and severely limiting a patient’s ability to perform personal, occupational, school and social activities. The severity of CFS varies greatly, with some people able to maintain fairly active lives. For others, CFS has profound and narrowing effects on work, school and family life.

A full-page color print ad depicting the impact of CFS and educating people about the symptoms of the illness appeared in selected national magazines in 2006 and 2007. The ad has appeared in various issues of Ladies’ Home Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, and People magazine.

Three online banner ads directing people to resources at http://www.cdc.gov/cfs have been displayed on Web MD,  Ladies' Home Journal and Better Homes and Gardens websites in 2007.
