CFS Provider Education Project History

The fundamental objective of the CFS Provider Education Project (PEP) is to expand the knowledge base of health care professionals to improve diagnosis and treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS).

The project was originally conceived in 1995 and was piloted in 2001. It was administered by the CFIDS Association of America and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through December 2007.

January of 2008 marks new beginings for professional education at the CFIDS Association of America. Moving beyond the progress that was made through the partnership with the CDC, the Association is currently developing new strategies for health care provider education with an expanded focus on clinical information, which will assist the clinician with developing effective symptom management interventions that result in improved day-to-day functioning and quality of life for people with CFS.
